You’re in a maze, making turns, perhaps retreating and restarting, and eventually feel the accomplishment and relief of finding the exit. Success! Right?

While your approach might have been methodical, or high-repetition random, it was within a finite set of possibilities, and an even smaller number of solutions. Often an early-stage company’s approach to data is very similar: data is drawn from a remarkably small pool. The data is what is readily in hand: sold customer transactions.
